This places is a nightmare

This place is a nightmare. I booked a nice and big room and I paid for it but what I got was a one of the smallest room in a dark corner of the hotel. I talked to reception about it but they didn't care. They cheated to their costumers. They will place you in whatever is free in your arrival. I could barely move in my room, the mattress was sinking, it did not have one of the courtines and I have to figure out how to cover the small window in my room ( look at the picture). My pillowcase had holes in them and I place my T-shirt because it was dirty. The towels smelled and the bathroom had yellow stains. Lamp dos not have the lamp shade Frame. There were people coming in and out all the time. Not sure if they were costumers o couples using this places as a motel. This is not a place for families or even a single person. Stay away from places like this because they ruin your time in Rome. Finally, be aware that it is a place located in one of the most dangerous places in Rome.

Good value near Termini

Hotel Raeli Luce is one of the many hotels near Roma Termini (the main train station). I've stayed in quite a few hotels in the area, and was very happy with Luce. When they gave me a substandard room, it was a fairly trivial matter to upgrade for free. I ended up with all the necessary amenities and facilities you'd expect for three stars, and the location can't be beat. Very pragmatic for tourists looking to hit Rome's major sites, and get in and out of the city painlessly. Breakfast was included in the (very reasonable) price and was also decent. I'd certainly stay there again!

Cheap hotel that needs a massive upgrade as it is very outdated. Bedding is as old as the building. Quite dark and depressing in the small claustrophobic bedroom. No hot drink making facility in the room either. Do not open the bedroom window...very easy to fall into the street below. Only good point is that it is close to the train station.

Fabulous Location

We arrived quite late at airport, but a short train ride to Termini and we were almost there. Its literally less than 5 minutes walk from the station. There's an excellent restaurant next door, called Donati. The rooms are compact but you don't come to Rome to sit in your hotel room. The bathroom was clean and well equipped, but the shower wouldn't suit a larger proportioned person. We had breakfast one morning and its good value. If you're looking for a well priced hotel in a superb location then this is a good bet. Ignore the negative reviews, its a capital city centre hotel, not a 5 star beach hotel.

Stayed here for 4 nights and found it fairy decent for the cost. A lot of the terrible reviews about it are fairly old so things have obviously improved. Found the staff to be friendly enough from the limited contact I had with them. The rooms are small and I can see problems if you bring large suitcases as there would be nowhere to put them if you want to keep them open but we had no issues with 2 carry on size cases. The shower cubicle was also small and the larger traveler may have problems. Rooms were clean as was the rest of the hotel. Aircon worked..a little too well sometimes as it would have been nice to be able to turn it down. Beds were comfortable and the room had a tiny TV but no English channels...You are in Rome... Our room was first floor overlooking the street but the double glazing was excellent as even when it was busy outside you were not disturbed by Any noise and as a bonus of being over the lobby we had WiFi in our room so book room 107 or nearby if you want that. Breakfast was the usual continental type and nothing amazing but nothing terrible. The absolute best thing about the hotel was the location. 5 minute walk from the train station meant we had the easiest transfer you could ask for. Plane, train , hotel in under an hour. The area around the train station is busy and a bit shabby..but so is the rest of Rome..and lots of other cities, but it never once felt dangerous. Plenty of police presence and it just seemed like normal city life to me. Easy access to shops in the train station and a small mini market opposite the hotel for essentials and restaurants of various types right on your doorstep..I never actually ate typically "Italian" food all the time I was there...not counting ice cream... Metro station being so close means moving around is simple and cheap but if you want to walk then the Coliseum took about 20 minutes..use the metro though and save your legs for the sight seeing. Vatican, Spanish steps, Pantheon, Coliseum all minutes away on the metro. I would definitely come back here again based on my experience. I wasnt expecting to be amazed by the hotel and I wasn't but I didn't pay the money required for that kind of experience and it's location allowed me to see Rome with ease and then come back to a comfortable bed which is what I was looking for.
